Well 2023 is over and I think that the year has been pretty good for movies. Whilst there have been many disappointments, there have been far more enjoyable films than not. I think that this year shows that movies are starting to recover in the post-covid era. The writers and actors strikes didn't help with some films being delayed with Dune Part 2 being the biggest casualty. Despite some films being delayed we got some great films in the cinema and on streaming.
I have introduced a new category this year to recognise some of the big names in film and this years inaugural recipient of the Outstanding Contribution Award goes to Martin Scorsese. Joaquin Phoenix becomes the first person to win two Movie Addict awards having previously one the Best Actor category in 2019.
